Nyesom Wike proscribes IPOB, says group is terrorist organization

 Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has signed an Executive Order proscribing the Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the state.  Wike made the announcement in a statewide broadcast in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, insisting that Rivers is home to all tribes.  The Governor announced the decision hours after he also lifted a nan on movement imposed in some parts of the state earlier.   There were curfew in Mile 1, Mile 2, Ilabuchi, Ikokwu areas among others.  He, however, said Oyigbo Local Government Area will remain under curfew while the Ikokwu market will remain shut.   Wike also announced the ban on tricycles ’ movement in all major roads in the state.  According to him, “We have everything against the presence and activities of the legally proscribed and anarchic Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and whatever that group stands for in Rivers State.   “This is clearly a terrorist group whose existence, creed, mission, and...

Adeboye declares 30-day fasting, prayer for Nigeria

 The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has directed members of his congregation to begin a 30-day fasting and prayer for Nigeria.  This was made known by RCCG Assistant General Overseer, Admin and Personnel, Johnson Odesola, in a statement in Ibadan, Oyo State, yesterday.  Odesola said the programme tagged, “Fasting and prayer for Nigeria” would start from November 1. “Marathon fasting will hold between November 1 and 14 for those who prefer that. Prayer guide shall be forwarded soon.  “Where possible, brethren should been encouraged to come together for prayers while ensuring that all COVID- 19 government regulations and safety precautions are put in place,” he added.  Nigeria has been besought with protests calling for an end to police extortion and brutality, which eventually resulted in the Lekki toll gate shooting, arson and looting around the country. 

President Trump further cuts numbers of refugees allowed in America

  President Donald Trump has slashed the numbers of refugees allowed into the United States to historic low of 15,000 in 2020. This includes 6,000 unused  places from the previous financial year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The White House made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday.  The number of refugees who can be admitted from Iraq was put at 4,000 and the number admitted from El Salvador, Guatemala or Honduras at 1,000 The 10,000 other spots are for people who fear persecution for their religious beliefs or political activities under the U.S. Refugee Admissions Programme.  “Persons from certain high-risk areas of terrorist presence or control, including Somalia, Syria, and Yemen, shall not be admitted as refugees, except those refugees of special humanitarian concern ”, the statement added  The latest figure is the lowest level since the introduction of the U.S. refugees programme in 1980. Lagos panel on SARS will probe Lekki shooting - Gov Sanwo-Olu

   Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expanded the scope of the Panel of Enquiry and Restitution for Victims of SARS. The committee, announced on October 15, will look into rights abuses by the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).  On Tuesday, Sanwo-Olu confirmed that the panel will investigate the Lekki shooting.  “The scope of the panel has been expanded to cover the Lekki toll incident ”, the governor  tweeted. “Memoranda can be submitted through the panel’s email: judicialpanelonsars@lagosstate.gov.ng and you call 0901 051 3203, 0901 051 3204, 0901 051 3205 for enquiries.”   Sittings will take place on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm at the Lagos Court of Arbitration.  The address is 1A, Remi Olowude Street, Maruwa Roundabout, Lekki - Epe Expressway.  The Nigerian Army attack on unarmed protesters has been condemned globally.  On October 20, soldiers opened fire as citizens demanding for an end to police...

Just in: Hoodlums attack NYSC camp in Abuja

 Hoodlums have broken into the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, orientation camp in Kubwa, Abuja.  A source told newsmen that the incident occurred at about 9am on Tuesday.  The assailants blocked the road and ordered motorists to turn back.  They were seen with mattresses, chairs, rice, groundnut oil, and other items.  As at press time, gunshots were heard in the area.  Police and military have been mobilized to the scene.  An helicopter was seen hovering round the camp. 

Just in: Masked armed thugs take over Kogi capital

 Masked thugs fully armed to the teeth have taken over Lokoja the Kogi State Capital.  They have been shooting sporadically since 9:30 am from zone eight, down to Ganaja junction, Paparanda square, old market road, Nataco, making many residents to scamper for safety.  The hoodlums were operating freely in a Sienna bus just as shops, restaurants and many banks have closed.  The ugly incident has created fear among residents in the state as a stray bullet hit a man in his shop located along Total Filling Station close to NEPA office in Lokoja.  Major streets in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital have been deserted. 

Biafra: Wike, you are finished - Kanu attacks Rivers Governor

  Nnamdi Kanu of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has launched a verbal attack and threat on the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike. This was after Governor Wike, had on Friday proscribed all activities of the IPOB, in the State.   Wike made the declaration in a statewide broadcast over the recent happenings in Rivers State, where the Police Command reported that IPOB members are responsible for the mayhem in the State.  He stated that his administration had severally pleaded, warned and even advised IPOB and its members to discontinue its insurrectional actions in Rivers State to no avail.  Kanu said if he and his group could face the government of Nigeria, Wike cannot stop their operations.  “If you know Nyesom Wike tell him that I, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, fight DEMONS not mere thieving mortals like him,” Kanu disclosed. “If the Satanic British created enclave called Nigeria is crying to the UK Government to save them, who the hell is Wike to challenge God’...

Just in: End SARS: Angry residents invade Senator Folarin’s house, cart away property

 Some angry Nigerians, on Saturday invaded the residence of Senator Teslim Folarin and carted away some valuables. Folarin represents Oyo Central district in the National Assembly.  His house located at Oluyole area of Ibadan was burgled on Saturday.  Some pictures showed how the angry Nigerians were moving some property from the Senator's house.  However, all efforts made by newsmen to get Folarin proved abortive. 

End SARS: 21 police stations attacked, 7 burnt, policeman beheaded in Anambra State

 After the wave of attacks that rocked police formations in Anambra State between Tuesday and Thursday, the state police command has begun to count its losses.  A release by the Anambra State Police Command’s Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed showed that 21 police divisions have so far been attacked by hoodlums who disguised as protesters, while seven of them were burnt. In the press release titled: UPDATE ON ATTACKS BY HOODLUMS ON POLICE FORMATIONS AND OTHER GOVERNMENT FACILITIES IN ANAMBRA STATE, The state police commissioner, John Abang appealed to all Ndi Anambra to remain calm and desist from actions that can further exacerbate the situation.  According to him, “On the 21/10/2020 at about 11:30pm hoodlums in large number under the guise of “End SARS” protesters attacked Nnewi Police Station, set it ablaze and vandalized patrol vehicles and other exhibits but were prevented from assessing the armoury to cart away arm due to strong resistance placed by policemen on duty. ...

End SARS: Different things are about to happen - Prophet Fufeyin

 Prophet Jeremiah Fufuyin, the Senior Prophet of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, has charged Christians and Nigerians , especially clerics to pray against another civil war.  Fufeyin said this while reacting to the violence that erupted across the country following calls for an end to police brutality and Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).  The cleric who predicted the situation on 22nd of June, 2020 called on the church to pray fervently because keeping quiet over the situation spells doom.  He had warned in June, 2020 that some people were planning war, stressing that the development would shake the country in a devastating catastrophe.  The Prophet has said, “Let us pray for our country Nigeria. Pope Francis declares support for same-sex marriage

Pope Francis has declared support for same-sex marriage. CNN reports that the Pope made his support known in a new documentary titled ‘Francesco and premiered at the Rome Film Festival on Wednesday.  The Pope explained that homosexuals have right to family and are children of God.  Catholic News Agency quoted the Pope as saying, “Homosexual people have a right to be in a family. “They’re children of God and have a right to a family. Nobody should be thrown out or be made miserable over it.” “What we have to create is a civil union law. That way they are legally covered,” he said. 

CCTV cameras captured Lekki shooting, they were not removed - Governor Sanwo-Olu disclosed

 The Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has insisted that he did not order the removal of CCTV cameras from the Lekki toll gate on Tuesday.  Sanwo-Olu disclosed this while addressing residents in a state-wide broadcast on Thursday morning. He agreed with the MD of the LCC, who claim they took decision to take out the installations because of the 24 hour curfew.  According to Sanwo-Olu, only the laser cameras for vehicles were removed and security cameras are still available.  The security cameras captured the tragic incident at the Lekki toll gate and will be used for investigations.  “Nobody ordered the removal of cameras at the Lekki toll gate. The MD of LCC said because of curfew, they made the decision to take out installations.  “The cameras you saw are not security or motion cameras, they are laser cameras for vehicles.  “The security cameras are still available, and we are using them for our security investigations,” Sanwo-Olu revealed...

End SARS: Hoodlums set police station on fire in Imo State

 Unknown hoodlums on Wednesday set Nworubi Police Divisional Headquarters in Mbaitoli LGA on fire in continuation of the ongoing protest against police brutality.  The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Ikeokwu Orlando, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday.  According to him, “Yes I can confirm to you that Nworubi Police Division was set on fire this afternoon by hoodlums.  “No arrest has been made yet, but police authorities have opened an investigation into the matter,” he stated. Recall that Governor Hope Uzodinma had on Tuesday ordered a 24 hours curfew in Imo to end the ongoing protest in the state.  Protesters ignored the curfew and embarked on a protest in various locations of the state.  The state’s Fire Service was mobilised by the state government to quench the fire. 

Breaking: End SARS: Uk Parliament deliberates on killing of End SARS protesters in Lekki

 The United Kingdom Parliament has commenced deliberations on petitions seeking to sanction the federal government for human rights abuses over the End SARS protests.  The petition which is on the UK government and parliament website accused the Nigerian government and police of violating the rights of those protesting against police brutality and extortion.  Following the development, Stephen Doughty member of the parliament in a post via his Twitter account on Wednesday said the issue of the killings has been raised and deliberations have begun.  “I raised the shocking killings of End SARS protesters in Lekki toll gate, Lagos Nigeria this morning in the House of Commons with FCDOGovUK Minister Nigel Adams. “I am horrified by the reports I am receiving.  “UK Government must urgently raise at the highest levels with Nigeria,” he added.  

Nigerian Army announces arrest of soldier

 The Nigerian Army has announced the arrest of one of its personnel.  The Army described him as a “hooded soldier”.  His name was given as Lance Corporal Harrison Friday.  In a post on Twitter Wednesday morning, the Army said Friday his behind a mask to commit cyber crimes.    “Be rest assured cyber criminals have no hiding place ” , the military arm tweeted.  A viral video showed a soldier appealing to his colleagues not to harm End SARS protesters.  The Army reacted by calling the footage “fake news”.  Several respondents are saying that the man in the video is not the one arrested.  They are citing similarities including the lips of the hooded soldier in the video and those of the personnel arrested.  Nigerians are also reminding the Army that they had labeled the footage fake, wondering when it became genuine.  Troops opened fire on peaceful protesters in the Lekki area of Lagos Tuesday night.  Many are feared dead and...

 Nigerian Afro-beat singer, David Adeleke , popularly known as Davido, has said criminals are responsible for the attack on two Correctional Centres in Benin City, Edo State.  Davido made the claim while absolving End SARS protesters of involvement in the attacks.  The singer pointed out that no amount of mischief would stop the protest against police brutality and bad governance.
