Medical trip: President Buhari will govern Nigeria from London, no need transmitting power to Osinbajo - Presidency react

Hike in pump price: Protest in Edo over hike in prices of petrol, cement

 Edo State Police Command have laid siege on some protesters kicking against the current hike in the pump price of petrol and the price of cement per bag.  The police stopped the protesters at the main gate/entrance of the king square roundabout close to the palace of the Oba of Benin in ring-road.  More information will come later...

Hijab wahala: Muslims attacked Christians, vandalised church in presence of security officials - Baptist disclosed

 The President of Kwara Baptist Conference, Reverend Victor Dada, has said that at least 20 people, including four pastors, were wounded and three hospitalised when Muslim fundamentalists attacked the First Baptist Church Surulere, Ilorin, Kwara State on Wednesday.  The cleric said the Muslim fundamentalists promised to burn down the three - storey building where Christians were gathered for a peaceful demonstration.  Dada, in a statement, alleged that the Muslims threw stones at Christians for over one hour after they overpowered the police, forcefully removed the gate, signboard of the school, injuring over 20 people, including four pastors.  It was gathered that a clash broke out between Christians and Muslims over a controversy bordering on the use of hijab by Muslim students in Christian schools in the state.  The statement partly read, “Despite that the case is at the Supreme Court and a stay of execution was obtained by proprietors of the mission school, ...

Hate speech: Igbo Muslims fleeing homes

 The Muslim Rights Concern [MURIC] has claimed that many Muslims of Igbo extraction have fled their homes to safer places after receiving death threats from fellow Igbos for daring to convert to Islam.  According to MURIC, several mosques located in South East have also been burnt down because of hate speech.  The group said this while calling on authors of hate speech and fake news to “rewind, soften up and show remorse.”  MURIC urged the government to begin deradicalisation of hate speech and fake news in order to douse tension in the country.  It said that if not brought under control and urgently too, the crisis caused by fake news and hate speech may result in nationwide pogrom.  MURIC fingered prominent pastors and opposition politicians among those behind hate speech.  This was contained in a statement signed by its director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola.  “Already, fiery, combustible and inflammatory speeches have led to the killing of Muslims and...

Zamfara APC members offered bandits N56m to hold Jangebe girls - Shinkafi

 Dr. Sani Abdullah Shinkafi, leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Zamfara State has accused APC leaders in the State of offering 56 million naira to bandits to refuse the release of Jangebe abducted girls.  He said that their aim was to sabotage the peace effort of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle.  Shinkafi, who was the 2019 governorship candidate of APGA in Zamfara State, made the allegation during a press briefing.  “I, therefore, challenge politicians from both the ruling and opposition parties to subject their telephone numbers to security checks since I am confident that the story that will come out of that process would be shocking, ” he added.  According to him, the security checks on the personal telephones of the selected politicians should be from 25th of February to the time when the girls were released.  Continuing, Shinkafi said that some APC members in Zamfara State were desperate to ensure that Matawalle failed in his com...

 General Lucky Irabor, who is the Chief of Defense Staff, has assured that the Nigerian Armed Forces would not allow terrorists to determine the peace of the country.  He assured that the Nigerian Armed Forces will determine the country's peace.  Irabor spoke while addressing State House Correspondents after President Muhammadu Buhari decorated him and other Service Chiefs with their new ranks.  According to him, “Peace and security is not just the security of the borders alone. ESN: IPOB won't handover ESN to govs - Kanu tells Uwazuruike

 Coordinator of the Kwara State chapter of Miyetti Allah Association of Cattle Breeders, Aliyu Mohammed, has said that the blockage of cattle and foodstuffs to the South West through Kwara State will continue until the safety of Fulani is guaranteed in the region.  While, speaking to Daily Post shortly after a crucial meeting of the association in Ilorin on Sunday, Mohammed, said the action is a warning shot to ensure a peaceful operation of businesses by the Fulani and to end the harassment of the tribe in the South.  He debunked allegations levelled against the Fulani, claiming that not all of them were criminals, adding “Just as you have in any society where there are good and bad people. ”  Mohammed insisted that “It is not only Fulanis that commit crimes in the country, but it was sad that everything happening now is heaped on Fulani herdsmen.”   The coordinator said the association was ready to fish out the bad eggs in their midst.  According to him, ...

Kidnapping: Nigerians will be shocked to know those behind abduction of school girls

 Bello Matawalle, the current governor of Zamfara State, has claimed Nigerians will be shocked to know those behind the abduction of over 300 students from Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe on Friday.  The Jangebe attack took place almost two weeks after bandits kidnapped 27 students and 15 workers of Government Science College, Kagara, Niger State.   Matawalle stated this on Sunday, when 17 Emirs in the State paid him a sympathy visit.  Before the attack in Kagara, bandits also took away passengers of the state transport service bus in Kundu village, also in Niger State.  According to him, “I want to inform you that there are many revelations in relation to the abduction of these students.  “Many people will be surprised to hear those people behind the abduction of these innocent children.  “They are not comfortable with the progress I am getting as a result of my peace initiative and they want to do all they can to sabotage my efforts”.
