Oh no: Suspected bandits abduct 300 schoolgirls in Zamfara State

 Report from Zamfara State indicates that about 300 female students of Government Secondary School, Jangebe have been abducted by suspected armed bandits.  The school girls were discovered missing on Thursday night after a head count.  The confirmation was made by the Commissioner of Security and Home Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Dauran in a brief interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gusau on Friday.  The abductors in their hundreds invaded the town and took away the students at about 2 a.m.  “I can confirm to you now that we have sadly received the report on the abduction of the students of GGSS Jangebe and right now, I am on my way to the school.  “At this moment, I cannot say how many students were taken away by the gunmen until I get there, but we have already mobilized security men and members of the vigilantaté who are now in pursuit of the abductors,” the commissioner said.  A staff of the school who spoke to NAN on condition of anonym...

Herdsmen set solar power station on fire

 Herdsmen have been accused of setting a solar power station on fire in Awowo, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.  A report that surfaced on social media on Tuesday night claimed that Awowo was “attacked” by herdsmen, who wanted to set the community on fire.  This generated tension in Ogun, considering the proximity of the area to Abeokuta, the state capital.  But, the Alawowo of Awowo, Oba AbdulGafar Olasukanmi Tijani, said the community was not attacked by herdsmen. Serious tension in Orlu as military take over community, residents leave for safety

 The residents of Orlu council area of Imo State have reportedly deserted their homes as the military continues a search for camps of the Eastern Security Network (ESN).  The Imo State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Barr. C. O. C Akaolisa, while speaking on the crisis over the weekend, said that the government deployed the military to intervene on the extra judicial killings perpetrated by members of the ESN.  Akaolisa revealed that the government got an intelligent report of IPOB leading attacks on Orlu people, as well as the government on the pretext of looking for Fulani herdsmen.  According to him: “the ESN members have taken the laws into their own hands by killing over 10 policemen and two prominent sons of Orlu, Ignatius Obiezu and Emmanuel Okeke and collected their hilux vehicles.  “We won't fold our arms and watch these boys send us packing in our own state. I don't think the Buhari in Aso Rock is from Sudan

 Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president of Nigeria, has disclosed that he does not agree with those who claim Nigeria has “a new Buhari from Sudan” in Aso Rock.  The former president while answering questions in a virtual interview with historian, Toyin Falola, on Sunday.  Obasanjo expressed his worry over the spate of insecurity in the North West of the country, where President Muhammadu Buhari is from.  He then urged the President to wake up and fight banditry and other crimes especially in the northern part of the country.  He said, “I thought I knew President Buhari because he worked with me.
